Is A-1 Tree Service an Essential Business?
A-1 Tree Service & Stump Removal continues to operate as an essential business. Tree care is vital to the health and safety of Californians, especially at this time of year. As we head into fire season, tree services are necessary to ensure public safety through tree risk assessment and maintenance.
The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) have distilled essential tree care services in three categories. These categories include maintaining the public safety of communities, protecting infrastructure, and protecting against the spread of invasive or injurious pests.
For Northern California, in particular, there’s an increased risk of wildfires during this time of year. During spring and summer, trees are growing at a greater rate. This increased growth directly impacts the effectiveness of defensible space zones.
In defensible space zones, it’s important to keep the initial 50-foot area surrounding your home completely clear of dead vegetation and flammable plants and shrubs. Trees need to be kept a minimum of 10 feet apart. This includes the trees’ branches as well.
In the next 100-foot area away from your home, trees need to be trimmed at least six feet from the ground or three times the height of the shrubs beneath them. This helps to reduce the risk of fire spreading from the shrubs and grass to the trees.
